We’re tightening the circuit

Following many discussions and feedback over the past few months combined with the recent advice that the Collie Motorplex new long track will not be ready for our event on 27 – 29 April, event changes have been made to the West Cape Classic to reduce the timeline and, therefore, participation cost.

To accommodate these changes, the West Cape Classic – Tarmac Challenge will now start at the Foreshore Stage in Busselton at 4pm on Friday 27 April followed by the VIP hospitality in the evening. This means you can leave Perth after lunch and arrive in time to run the Foreshore Stage of the Forrest Rally, check into the Ramada Resort and return to the VIP hospitality and enjoy a relaxed evening’s entertainment.

The program of Stages for Saturday in and around Busselton and Dunsborough will remain the same with the new Yallingup Hillclimb, Clairault Streicker Sprint, Vasse Siding Sprint plus two other Motorkhana stages over the course of the day before Dinner at the Ramada Resort on Sat evening.

On Sunday morning we will then head north to Bunbury to run the ECU Engineering Sprint at the Cut then onto Perth Motorplex for three separate stages before moving to the final stage of the event at the Claremont Showgrounds followed by the Finale presentation function.

REDUCED ENTRY FEE
As a result of the above changes we have been able to reduce the cost of the event and simplified registration as follows:

  1. Driver – $2,200.00 (includes Co-Driver or Partner)

To secure you spot, there is an extended registration period will remain open until midnight on Tuesday 3 April 2018 so it is easy to go online to register and pay.

The inaugural West Cape Classic – Tarmac Challenge is an exciting opportunity for classic cars of all styles and ages to test man and machine in competition stages each day including circuits, closed road sprints, hill climbs, motorkhanas and much more.

An important part of the West Cape Classic will be the social program with lunches every day plus dinner functions in some different and unique locations on each of the four nights that will include a Welcome Briefing on Thursday 26 April at Burswood on Swan plus the Finale Awards Presentation on Sunday night at the Wilkinson Gallery, Claremont Showgrounds.

January Classic Cars & Coffee

The West Cape Classic was represented by three cars at the January Classic Cars & Coffee held at UWA – a Golf R32, AMG E55 and a pretty spectacular Skyline GTR, which was one of our first entries. One of our Event Directors manned the stand and spoke with lots of keen people, eager to enjoy a 3-day rally around the Southwest. Remember the early entry incentives available… Thanks to our photographer Tim Barrington for the image.

Forest Rally supports West Cape Classic

Forest Rally (which is the WA round of Australian Rally Championship) supports West Cape Classic – Tarmac Challenge by inviting drivers to compete on the Trade Hire Busselton Special Stage and also be part of the Event Hospitality on Friday 27 April 2018. The event on the Busselton Foreshore has long been a highlight of the Forest Rally, drawing big spectator crowds and sees some upgrades this year. West Cape Classic Event Organisers Peter Kay and Paul Blank would like to thank Ross Tapper, Event Director of Forest Rally and his team for allowing us to participate in his exciting Forest Rally stage and we are all looking forward to being part of the action next year.

Fabcar comes on board

Specialist car importer and retailer Fabcar has come on board as a Supporting Partner in the 2018 West Cape Classic. There are obvious synergies when you look at the exotic cars which Fabcar handles and some of the vehicles expected to participate in the new tarmac challenge event next April.

In fact Fabcar have had one of the McLaren supercars from their stock decked-out like a rally car, and it gained a great deal of attention at the Celebration of the Motorcar show at the Cottesloe Civic Centre in early December.

With the rally’s Launch function held at Fabcar’s new showroom in Lord Street, Perth, the connection to the event was strengthened. A big crowd of interested people talked rallying and admired some exotic cars…
